Shakespeare for kids! Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre will present their adaptation of The Tempest for young people at the School of Dance, 200 Chrichton St., on December 29th and 30th at 1:00 and 3:00 pm. Tickets are $10.00, available at the door, or in advance at the School of Dance. Their phone number is 238-7838. The Tempest, Shakespeare’s most magical masterpiece, is about Prospero, a wizard on an enchanted island, who uses magic to shipwreck his old enemies. A beautiful fairy, Ariel, helps him play tricks on his enemies, and everyone learns a lesson. John Nolan and Kathy MacLellan appear on stage as visible, costumed puppeteer/storytellers, working colourful, three-foot-high puppet characters. Well-known local musician Russell Levia accompanies them, with live, original music inspired by Anton Dvorak and Eric Satie. Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre is an award-winning company, “known for delightful and intelligent puppet shows for kids of all ages.” (Ottawa Citizen) Other shows include Zoom At Sea, A Promise is A Promise and The Nightingale. Since they began in 1978, their original productions have been enjoyed by more than half a million people across Canada and the U.S. Read the story of The Tempest here... Contact: |
